COLCOA French Film Festival 2015 – Winner of Audience Award

BLIND DATE

 UN PEU, BEAUCOUP, AVEUGLÉMENT

FRANCE • COMEDY, ROMANCE • 90 MINS • 2015 • PG
DIRECTOR: CLOVIS CORNILLAC
CAST: MÉLANIE BERNIER, CLOVIS CORNILLAC, LILOU FOGLI, PHILIPPE DUQUESNE
Prepare yourself for the unlikeliest of rom-com scenarios, in which the two would-be lovers not only don’t meet or see each other, but agree to not even know each other’s names! This unique feat is carried off with aplomb in Festival-favourite and César Award winning actor Clovis Cornillac’s debut as a director.

Cornillac (Tour de Force – Festival 2014) himself plays an obsessive designer of ingenious puzzles who demands absolute silence to work. The tranquil solitude of his ivory tower of an apartment is shattered when an attractive young pianist (Mélanie Bernier) moves next door to practice for a life-changing competition. An intriguing relationship develops either side of the thin wall separating them as they overcome obstacles placed by themselves in mutual agreement.

A clear winner of the Audience Award at the COLCOA Festival, this sheer delight of a film boasts charming performances from the two leads and beautifully contrived design that makes the most of the small-scale setting. Opposites attract not just each other, but also hilarious and surprising complications in this delightful and laugh-filled movie.
