ELLE L'ADORE

 ELLE L'ADORE

FRANCE • THRILLER - COMEDY • 105 MINS • 2014 • 15+*
DIRECTOR: JEANNE HERRY
CAST: SANDRINE KIBERLAIN, LAURENT LAFITTE, PASCAL DEMOLON, BENJAMIN LAVERNHE, OLIVIA CÔTE

Muriel is the number one fan of rock star Vincent Lacroix. So when Vincent accidentally kills his girlfriend, he knows there’s one person he can trust to dispose of the body.
Unfortunately, Muriel is also a compulsive liar. Now as the groupie and her idol try to stay ahead of a pair of squabbling detectives, the suspense builds and the plot twists in a film that is part comedy, part thriller and part exquisite study in manners.

Sandrine Kiberlain, who won the César Award for Best Actress in 2013 for 9 Month Stretch, is both hilarious and touching as Muriel, a woman who lies as easily as she breathes, and her performance underscores the film’s clever mix of hi-jinx and darker themes. Laurent Lafitte (Bright Days Ahead, 2014 Festival) is also perfectly cast as the straight-faced but manipulative rock star.

For her debut feature, Jeanne Herry has crafted a very funny film that is full of surprises and insights into the price of fame, the cost of fandom and unlikely alliances.

PLEASE NOTE: Film screened in French with English subtitles
